The A82/A83 Trunk Road (Tarbet) (Temporary 20mph and 30mph Speed Restrictions) Order 2025

The Scottish Ministers give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1), 4(1) and 14(1)(b) and (4) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will have the effect of imposing temporary 20mph and 30mph speed restrictions on the following lengths of road:

20mph

  1. That length of theA82Dalnottar - Inverness Trunk Road at Tarbet from a point 114 metres or thereby south of the extended centre line of its junction with the A83 in a generally northerly direction to its junction with the A83 and thereafter in a generally easterly direction to a point 225 metres or thereby east of the extended centre line of its junction with Old Military Road, a distance of 703 metres or thereby. 
  1. That length of theA83 Tarbet - Lochgilphead - Campbeltown Trunk Road at Tarbet from a point atits junction with the A82 to a point 155 metres or thereby east of the extended centre line of its junction with Ballyhennan Crescent, a distance of 230 metres or thereby.

30mph

  1. That length of theA82Dalnottar - Inverness Trunk Road at Tarbet from a point 114 metres or thereby south of the extended centre line of its junction with the A83 to a point 584 metres or thereby south of the extended centre line of its junction with the A83, a distance of 470 metres or thereby.

The Order, which is required in the interest of road safety, will be in operation from 7 November 2025 until 7 May 2027, and will only have effect in relation to such part or parts of the length of road as is indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

The Order does not apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations; or vehicles being used in an emergency for coastguard purposes.

UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 Compatibility Consideration and Narration of Statement of Compatibility

The Scottish Ministers have made the following statement regarding children’s rights.

“In accordance with section 23(2) of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 (the Act), the Scottish Ministers certify that, in their view, A82/A83 Trunk Road (Tarbet) (Temporary 20mph and 30mph Speed Restrictions) Order 2025 is compatible with the UNCRC requirements as defined by section 1(2) of the Act.”
