The A87 Trunk Road (Balmacara) (Temporary Prohibition on Use of Road) Order 2025

The Scottish Ministers give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1) and (2), 4(1) and 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, temporarily prohibiting traffic on that length of the A87 Invergarry – Kyle of Lochalsh – Borve – Trunk Road from its junction with the C1232 Duirinish and Plockton Road, Balmacara in a generally south eastwards direction to a point about 325 metres or thereby south eastwards of said junction with the C1232 Duirinish and Plockton Road, Balmacara, a distance of 325 metres or thereby.

The Order, which is required to facilitate the Balmacara Remembrance Service 2025 and to enable members of the public to participate in this event, will be in operation from 1st November until 2nd November 2025. Although the prohibition of use order is for the whole day the actual closure of the A87 is likely to be in the region of 15 minutes & will only have effect in relation to such part or parts of the length of road as is indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

The Order does not apply to vehicles being used in an emergency for fire brigade, ambulance, police or coastguard purposes, or vehicles being used for facilitating the holding of the relevant event.

UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 Compatibility Consideration and Narration of Statement of Compatibility

The Scottish Ministers have made the following statement regarding children’s rights:

“In accordance with section 23(2) of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 (the Act), the Scottish Ministers certify that, in their view, the A87 Trunk Road (Balmacara) (Temporary Prohibition on Use of Road) Order 2025 is compatible with the UNCRC requirements as defined by section 1(2) of the Act.”
