The A87 Trunk Road (Uig) (Temporary Prohibitions of Use of Road, Overtaking, Waiting, Loading and Unloading and Temporary Speed Restrictions) Order 2022

The Scottish Ministers give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1) and (2), 4(1) and 14(1)(a) and (4) and 15(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 temporarily prohibiting traffic of use of road, from overtaking, waiting, loading and unloading and temporarily imposing a 20mph and 30mph speed restriction and a 10mph speed restriction when a convoy is in operation on that length of the A87 Invergarry – Kyle of Lochalsh – Borve – Uig Trunk Road at Uig from its junction with the A855 Brogaig Road North in a general south westerly direction to its termination at King Edward Pier, a distance of 1.27 kilometres or thereby.

The Order, is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road during the Uig Harbour Redevelopment Programme and will be in operation from 6 May 2022 until the Order is revoked on completion of the works project, which is estimated to be on or around 31 December 2023 and will only have effect in relation to such part or parts of the length of road as is indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

The Order does not apply to vehicles while being used in an emergency for fire brigade, ambulance, police or coastguard purposes or vehicles being used for carrying out the works or vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations.
