The A9 Trunk Road (Helmsdale) (Temporary Prohibition on Use of Road) Order 2025

The Scottish Ministers hereby give notice that they have made the above Order under section 62(1) of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 which will have the effect of temporarily prohibiting vehicles on that length of the M9/A9 Edinburgh – Stirling - Thurso Trunk Road at Stafford Street, Helmsdale from a point at its junction with Shore Street in a generally northerly direction to a point at its junction with Sutherland Street, a distance of 147 metres or thereby.

The Order, which is required to facilitate filming activities, will be in operation from 28 July until 29 July 2025. It is anticipated that the restrictions will be in place for periods of approximately 5 minutes and will only have effect in relation to such part or parts of the length of road as is indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

The Order does not apply to vehicles in an emergency for fire brigade, ambulance, police or coastguard purposes or in connection with the placing of the required signage.

An alternative route is not required.

UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 Compatibility Consideration and Narration of Statement of Compatibility

In accordance with section 23(2) of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 (the Act), the Scottish Ministers certify that, in their view the A9 Trunk Road (Helmsdale) (Prohibition on Use of Road) Order 2025 is compatible with the UNCRC requirements as defined by section 1(2) of the Act.
