The A96 Trunk Road (Delnies) (Temporary 30mph and 40mph Speed Restrictions) Order 2026
The Scottish Ministers give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1), 4(1) and 14(1)(b) and (4) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will have the effect of temporarily restricting the speed of vehicles to 30mph and 40mph on the specified lengths of road below -
30mph Speed Limit
That length of the A96 Craibstone – Inverness Trunk Road from a point 335 metres or thereby west of its junction with the road known as Stackpole Road in an easterly direction for a distance of 1.78 kilometres or thereby.
40mph Speed Limit
That length of the A96 Craibstone – Inverness Trunk Road from a point 335 metres or thereby west of its junction with the road known as Stackpole Road in a westerly direction for a distance of 564 metres or thereby.
The Order, which is required because of the likelihood of danger to the public will be in operation from 21st September 2026 until 20th September 2027 and will only have effect in relation to such part or parts of the length of road as is indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
No speed restriction imposed by this Order applies to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations; or vehicles being used in an emergency for coastguard purposes.
