The M77/A77 Trunk Road (Girvan) (Temporary Prohibition on Waiting, Loading and Unloading) Order 2026

The Scottish Ministers give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1) and (2), 4(1) and 14(1)(a) and (4) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will have the effect of temporarily prohibiting waiting, loading and unloading on that length of the M77/A77 Glasgow – Stranraer Trunk Road at Girvan from a point on the A77 Henrietta Street 160 meters or thereby north from its junction with Duncan Street, in a northerly then easterly direction along the A77 Knockcushan Street, then in a generally north easterly direction to the A77 Bridge Street, the A77 Old Street then the A77 Vicarton Street, to a point 77 meters or thereby east of its junction with Montgomerie Street, a total distance of 768 meters or thereby.

The Order, which is required to facilitate routine road‑maintenance, will be in operation from 23 February until 6 March 2026 and will only have effect in relation to such length of road as is indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. The Order does not apply to vehicles being used in an emergency for fire brigade, ambulance, police or coastguard purposes, or a vehicle being used for carrying out the works.

Narration of Statement of Compatibility

The Scottish Ministers have made the following statement regarding children’s rights:

“In accordance with section 23(2) of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 (the Act), the Scottish Ministers certify that, in their view, The M77/A77 Trunk Road (Girvan) (Temporary Prohibition on Waiting, Loading and Unloading) Order 2026, is compatible with the UNCRC requirements as defined by section 1(2) of the Act.”
