The M8 Motorway (Junction 15, Townhead) (Temporary Prohibition on Use Of Road) Order 2018

The Scottish Ministers hereby give notice that they have made the above Order under section 2(1) and (2), 4(1) and 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 which will have the effect of temporarily prohibiting traffic on the following lengths of the M8/A8 Edinburgh – Greenock Trunk Road:

  1. The eastbound off slip road to Springburn Road, Junction 15 (Townhead), a distance of 500 metres or thereby.
  2. The westbound off slip road to Stirling Road, Junction 15 (Townhead), a distance of 700 metres or thereby.
  3. The westbound on slip road from Loop U, Junction 15 (Townhead), a distance of 350 metres or thereby.
  4. The westbound on slip road from Springburn Road, Junction 15 (Townhead), a distance of 500 metres or thereby.
  5. The eastbound on slip road from Stirling Road, Junction 15 (Townhead), a distance of 700 metres or thereby.

The Order, which is required to facilitate the Glasgow 2018 European Championships Time Trial cycling event  and to reduce disruption to traffic likely to be caused by that event, will be in force from 8th August 2018 until 9th August 2018 and will only have effect in relation to such part or parts of the length of road as is indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

The Order does not apply to vehicles being used in an emergency for fire brigade, ambulance, police and coastguard purposes, or a vehicle being used for facilitating the holding of the relevant event.

The alternative route for traffic in relation to the length of road affected by the Order during the prohibition will signposted.
