The M8 Trunk Road (Junction 18, Westbound) (Temporary Prohibition on Use of Road) Order 2023

The Scottish Ministers give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1) and (2), 4(1) and 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will have the effect of temporarily prohibiting traffic on that length of the M8/A8/A8(M) Edinburgh – Greenock Trunk Road being the westbound off slip road at Junction 18 (Charing Cross), a distance of 320 metres or thereby.

The Order, which is required to hold the UCI Cycling World Championships 2023 and to enable competitors and support staff to participate in this event will be in operation from 00:01 hours on the 4th August until 23:59 hours on the 14th August 2023 and will only have effect in relation to such part or parts of the length of road as is indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

The Order does not apply to a vehicle being used in an emergency for fire brigade, ambulance, police or coastguard purposes.

Alternative Routes

The alternative routes for traffic during the prohibition will be signposted to use the Junction 19 slip road to Anderston on the M8.

Due to the nature and extent of the other road closures which are affected by the event, there will be no surface street diversions.

Detailed descriptions can also be obtained at Amey, 115 Polmadie Road, Glasgow, G5 0BA.

A copy of the Order and this Notice will be available on the Transport Scotland website at https://www.transport.gov.scot/road-orders/?roadorderregion=1293
