The M876/A876 (Clackmannanshire Bridge) A977 (Longannet Roundabout to Gartarry Roundabout) and A985 (Rosyth to Kincardine Bridge) Trunk Roads (Temporary Prohibition on Use of Road) Order 2023

The Scottish Ministers give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1) and (2), 4(1) and 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will have the effect of temporarily prohibiting traffic on the following lengths of road -

1. That length of the A985 Kincardine – Rosyth Trunk Road from its junction with the circulatory carriageway of the Higgins Neuk Roundabout to its junction with the circulatory carriageway of the Brankholm Brae Roundabout, a distance of 19.4 kilometres or thereby.

2. That length of the A985 Kincardine – Rosyth Trunk Road being the circulatory carriageway of the Higgins Neuk Roundabout, a distance of 271 metres or thereby.

3. That length of the A985 Kincardine – Rosyth Trunk Road being the circulatory carriageway of the Longannet Roundabout, a distance of 173 metres or thereby.

4. That length of the A985 Kincardine – Rosyth Trunk Road being the circulatory carriageway of the Cairneyhill Roundabout, a distance of 267 metres or thereby.

5. That length of the A977 Longannet Roundabout – Gartarry RoundaboutTrunk Road from its junction with the circulatory carriageway of the Gartarry Roundabout to its junction with the circulatory carriageway of the Longannet Roundabout, a distance of 5 kilometres or thereby.

6. That length of the A977 Longannet Roundabout - Gartarry Roundabout Trunk Road being the circulatory carriageway of the Kilbagie Roundabout, a distance of 113 metres or thereby.

7. That length of the M876/A876 Dennyloanhead – Kilbagie Roundabout Trunk Road being the northbound carriageway of the M876 from the point it diverges from the M9 eastbound at Junction 7 Kinnaird to its junction with the circulatory carriageway of the Higgins Neuk Roundabout, a distance of 4 kilometres or thereby.

8. That length of the M876/A876 Dennyloanhead – Kilbagie Roundabout Trunk Road being the northbound carriageway of the M876 from the point it diverges from the M9 westbound at Junction 7 Kinnaird to the point it meets the M876/A876 northbound carriageway, a distance of 1.43 kilometres or thereby.

9. That length of the M876/A876 Dennyloanhead – Kilbagie Roundabout Trunk Road being the M876 from its junction with the circulatory carriageway of the Higgins Neuk Roundabout to its junction with the circulatory carriageway of the Kilbagie Roundabout, a distance of 4 kilometres or thereby.

10. That length of the M876/A876 Dennyloanhead – Kilbagie Roundabout Trunk Road being the M876 southbound off slip from the point it diverges from the M876/A876 southbound carriageway to the point it merges with the M9 eastbound at Junction 7 Kinnaird, a distance of 757 metres or thereby.

11. That length of the M876/A876 Dennyloanhead – Kilbagie Roundabout Trunk Road being the southbound carriageway of the M876 from its junction with the circulatory carriageway of the Higgins Neuk Roundabout to the point it merges with the M9 westbound at Junction 7 Kinnaird , a distance of 4.65 kilometres or thereby.

12. That length of the M876/A876 Dennyloanhead – Kilbagie Roundabout Trunk Road being the northbound off slip at A905 Bowtrees, a distance of 723 metres or thereby.

13. That length of the M876/A876 Dennyloanhead – Kilbagie Roundabout Trunk Road being the northbound on slip at A905 Bowtrees, a distance of 448 metres or thereby.

14. That length of the M876/A876 Dennyloanhead – Kilbagie Roundabout Trunk Road being the southbound off slip at A905 Bowtrees, a distance of 500 metres or thereby.

15. That length of the M876/A876 Dennyloanhead – Kilbagie Roundabout Trunk Road being the southbound on slip at A905 Bowtrees, a distance of 648 metres or thereby.

The Order, which is required in to facilitate the UCI Championships event will be in operation from 6th August until 7th August 2023 and will only have effect in relation to such part or parts of the length of road as is indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

The Order does not apply to vehicles while being used in an emergency for fire brigade, ambulance, police or coastguard purposes or a vehicle being used for facilitating the holding of the relevant event.

Alternative Routes

M876/A876

Westbound traffic on the M9 will be diverted via Stirling. 

Eastbound motorists heading for the A876 will be advised to divert at M9 Junction 9 and divert through Stirling.

Motorists heading north on the M80 and aiming for the A876 will be advised to divert via Stirling.

Motorists travelling on the A905 aiming to travel north on the A876 will be diverted via Stirling.

A977

An alternative route is not required.

Motorists will be held at Longannet Roundabout.  At Gartarry Roundabout motorists will have some options should they wish to continue their journey via A977 North, via A907 East or West or via Alloa Road.

A985

An alternative route is not required.
