Statement of reasons

The Scottish Ministers propose to prohibit right turn manoeuvres to and from the M8/A8 Trunk Road at the junction of the A8 with Bay Street, Port Glasgow, in the interests of road safety.

In consideration of these interests, the Scottish Ministers are satisfied that the closure of the opening in the existing dual carriageway central reservation to prohibit right turns across the dual carriageway and U-turns on the dual carriageway, will improve road safety by avoiding a conflict between slow turning vehicles and through traffic.
