The M8/A8 Trunk Road (Charing Cross) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2020

The Scottish Ministers give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1) and (2), 4(1) and 14(1)(b) and (4) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, temporarily prohibiting traffic on the following lengths of the M8/A8 Edinburgh to Greenock Trunk Road—

The westbound carriageway from its junction with the westbound on slip at Junction 15 (Springburn Road) to its junction with the westbound off slip at Junction 18 (Charing Cross) a distance of 1.9 kilometres or thereby.  

The westbound on slip road from Springburn Road, Junction 15 (Townhead), a distance of 500 metres or thereby.

The westbound on slip road at Junction 17 (West Graham Street), a distance of 400 metres or thereby.

The westbound on slip link road at Junction 18 (Charing Cross) between its junction with the A82, Great Western Road and its junction with the A804, New City Road, a distance of 100 metres or thereby.

The Order, which is required for prohibiting traffic, will be in force from 11 January 2020 until 12 January 2020 and will only have effect in relation to such part or parts of the length of road as indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

The Order does not apply to vehicles while being used in an emergency for fire brigade, ambulance, police or coastguard purposes; or any vehicle travelling under police escort or any vehicle being used to provide such an escort.
