The M8/A8/A8(M) Trunk Road (Hillington) (Temporary 40mph Speed Restriction) Order 2025
The Scottish Ministers make the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 2(1), 4(1) and 14(1)(a) and (4) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will have the effect of imposing a temporary 40mph speed restriction on that length of the M8/A8/A8(M) – Edinburgh to Greenock Trunk Road being the eastbound and westbound carriageways from the B768 Dumbreck Road Overbridge at Junction 23 to the A741 Renfrew Road Overbridge at Junction 27, a total distance of 7 kilometres or thereby.
The Order, which is required because works are being proposed to be executed on or near the road, will be in operation on 7th September 2025 until 31st May 2026 and will only have effect in relation to such part or parts of the length of road as is indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
The Order does not apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations, or vehicles being used in an emergency for coastguard purposes.

UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 Compatibility Consideration and Narration of Statement of Compatibility
The Scottish Ministers have made the following statement regarding children’s rights:
“In accordance with section 23(2) of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 (the Act), the Scottish Ministers certify that, in their view, The M8/A8/A8(M) Trunk Road (Hillington) (Temporary 40mph Speed Restriction) Order 2025, is compatible with the UNCRC requirements as defined by section 1(2) of the Act.”
