The M9/A90/M90 Trunk Road (Fraserburgh) (Temporary 20mph Restriction) Order 2025

The Scottish Ministers give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1), 4(1) and 14(1)(b) and (4) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(a), which will impose a temporary 20mph speed restriction on that length of the

M9/A90/M90 Edinburgh - Fraserburgh Trunk Road at Fraserburgh, from a point 88 metres or thereby north of its junction with the extended centre line of Kessock Road northwards to a point 35 metres or thereby north of its junction with the extended centre line of Hanover Street, a distance of 1.065 kilometres or thereby.

The Order, which is required in the interest of road safety, will be in operation from 22 September 2025 until 22 March 2027 and will only have effect in relation to such part or parts of the length of road as is indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

The Order does not apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations, or vehicles being used in an emergency for coastguard purposes.

UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 Compatibility Consideration and Narration of Statement of Compatibility 

 The Scottish Ministers have made the following statement regarding children’s rights.  

“In accordance with section 23(2) of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 (the Act), the Scottish Ministers certify that, in their view, the M9/A90/M90 Trunk Road (Fraserburgh) (Temporary 20mph Speed Restriction) Order 2025 is compatible with the UNCRC requirements as defined by section 1(2) of the Act.”
