A9 Dualling: Tomatin to Moy – Temporary Reopening of National Cycle Network Route 7
To allow maintenance and improvement works on the diversion of the National Cycle Network Route 7 (NCN7), the existing NCN7 route will be temporarily reopened. These improvement works will ensure continued access for non-motorised users ahead of peak cycle times in 2026.
- Reopening date: 21 November 2025
- Duration: Until January 2026
- Note: The temporary diversion will close from 21 November 2025.
We appreciate your cooperation and will provide updates as work progresses.
A9 road users are advised to approach the area with care and observe the 40 mph temporary speed limit restriction which is currently in operation as well as the signs warning of non-motorised users crossing ahead.
Instead of crossing the A9 at the Invereen roundabout, users will continue adjacent to the A9 northbound carriageway by an existing paved pathway for approximately 1.3km where they will then cross the A9 as they did previously, approximately 70m south of the Dalmagarry farm junction.
The below map outlines the route.
Cyclists and road users are advised that signage will be updated to reflect this change.
To ensure the route remains fit for use, it will be inspected weekly by Balfour Beatty. In addition, the existing QR codes will be repositioned at various locations along the route where the public can report any concerns they may have.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all users of the route for their patience while we undertake this work.
As this work progresses, it may be subject to change due to uncontrollable circumstances such as weather. Should this occur, we will keep all road users and stakeholders updated through further communication.
