Lane Restrictions, M74 northbound carriageway between Junction 6 Hamilton and the off slip road to Hamilton Motorway Service Area
Road users are advised that the M74 northbound carriageway between Junction 6 Hamilton/Motherwell and the off slip road to Hamilton Motorway Services will be restricted to two lanes, between 8pm Friday 10 November, and 6am Monday 13 November 2023 to allow road resurfacing works.
As a result, the following slip roads will be closed:
- M74 northbound Junction 6 on slip road from A723 Hamilton
- M74 Northbound Junction 6 on slip road from A723 Motherwell
- M74 northbound off slip road into Hamilton Motorway Services (entrance in to Service area)
Signed diversion routes will be in place at all times. For access to Hamilton Motorway Services, a signed diversion route will be in place via the M74 northbound Junction 6 off slip to Hamilton (A723), Palace Grounds Road (A72), Mote Hill, Mausoleum Drive and enter the Services via the back entrance road. The Service Area Management request that abnormal loads refrain from using Hamilton Motorway Services during these works due to difficulties experienced using the narrow back entrance route.
Road users are encouraged to plan ahead and check Traffic Scotland prior to travelling on these evenings to check their route.
These weekend lane restrictions and slip road closures are required to ensure road user and road worker safety whilst resurfacing works are undertaken. Works have been scheduled over a full weekend to minimise disruption to road users.
A 40 mile per hour speed restriction will be in place for the duration of the works to ensure the safety of road workers and road users.
General access and emergency vehicle access will be provided to Hamilton Motorway Services via the back entrance at Mote hill and Mausoleum Drive during these weekend lane and slip road closures (although this is unsuitable for abnormal loads). The works will be carried out by Scottish Roads Partnership on behalf of Transport Scotland to maintain the integrity and safety of this route. The works have been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, South Lanarkshire Council, North Lanarkshire Council, Amey South West Unit and Police Scotland.
Please note, all works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
If you have any enquiries regarding these works, please contact us on 0800 042 0188 or info@scotroadspartnership.co.uk.
