Overnight traffic signals - A9 southbound slip road to A924, Pitlochry North Junction
Overnight traffic signals planned commencing 10 October
On behalf of Transport Scotland's A9 Dualling Programme, work will be undertaken by Network Rail to install a number of under track drainage crossings below the Highland Main Line railway between Pitlochry and Killiecrankie.
These works will accommodate future drainage infrastructure for the new dualled A9 carriageway.
Road users are advised that temporary traffic signals will be installed overnight on the A9 southbound off slip road to A924 at Pitlochry north junction between 10pm and 7am on the following dates:
- 10 October,
- 17 October, and
- 24 October 2026
Temporary traffic signals will also operate between 10pm and 5am on the following dates.
- Tuesday 20, Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 October 2026
- Tuesday 27, Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 October 2026
- Tuesday 3, Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 November 2026
- Monday 9, Tuesday 10, Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 November 2026
These works are vital to enable the safe delivery of materials and equipment, vegetation clearance activities, plant operations and installation of the crossings and to ensure the safety of operatives and road users during the works.
Access will be given to emergency services throughout the works.
In addition, a lay-by on the link road to the A924 will be closed continuously between
Wednesday 7 October and Friday 13 November 2026 and a small section of footway at the back of the layby will be closed to pedestrian and non-motorised users whilst works are ongoing.
Minimising Disruption
While some disturbance is unavoidable due to the nature of the works, every effort will be made to minimise impacts on local communities and road users. Site teams will work considerately and implement measures to maintain safety throughout the works.
Liaison has been undertaken with Perth & Kinross Council, Police Scotland, BEAR Scotland and Enchanted Forest regarding these works, and we have selected the timings to minimise disruption as far as possible during these works.
Works are weather dependant and dates may change depending on weather conditions.
