The post is based in Transport Scotland’s Bus, Concessionary and Active Travel (BCAT) Directorate.
The Operator Account Validator has an important role in the Unit ensuring that:
- payments to operators for concessionary travel schemes and Network Support Grant funding are made accurately and on time
- All necessary validation checks are complete, audit records adequately retained and discrepancies investigated and resolved on time
- Positive engagement occurs with operators in relation to their claims and payments.
You will report directly to the Operator Account Officer. Your responsibilities include working within a payment processing environment, analysing large volumes of data, and engaging with both internal and external stakeholders across a variety of tasks.
Responsibilities
- To analyse schemes and grant claims for accuracy, utilising and interrogating available systems to validate and authorise claims for payment in accordance with Scheme rules and Grant conditions and to prepare reports where applicable.
- To investigate shortfalls or discrepancies of data and liaise with stakeholders with a view to resolving issues and ensuring correct payments are made.
- Engage with transport operators and other stakeholders to investigate and resolve issues where discrepancies or issues are identified in relation to payment claims.
- Line management responsibility for an Operator Account Support (A4). This also involves target setting, monitoring, providing support and direction, liaising with other team members to ensure consistency in approach.
- Undertake and participate in any fraud investigation working with other colleagues across the Unit as required. This may also include a requirement to undertake and participate in investigations and surveillance.
