We are currently seeking applications for our Rail Technical Adviser vacancy.
Reporting to the Head of Rail Projects and Technical Services, the Rail Technical Advisor will be the designated representative for technical advice for specific Rail Projects being responsible for the preparation, acceptance and delivery of agreed technical remits between teams.
You will be at the forefront of specifying the Scottish Government needs for railway infrastructure interventions ensuring these are the best value for the taxpayer's money and they deliver the required outputs.
Responsibilities
- Advising on technical issues, especially to expedite the cost-effective, efficient and timely delivery of the programme of investment across the rail portfolio including enhancement projects and the requirements set out in High Level Output Specification.
- Identifying, co-ordinating and securing all the necessary technical advice across all rail disciplines and rail systems.
- Working with third party promoters, Network Rail and Train Operating Companies to ensure that project scope and functional specifications are optimised and integrated with operational requirements and aligned to secure required outputs.
- Supporting and challenging the technical and operational proposals of project promoters and delivery organisations, with specific objectives of supporting Network Rail’s Integrated Gauging Strategy for Scotland’s Railway, and replacement of life-expired diesel trains and the older parts of the existing ScotRail electric fleet.
