About the pilot

This pilot scheme ended on Tuesday 31 March 2026. It provided free bus travel to people seeking asylum who live in Scotland, using a National Entitlement Card (NEC). If you participated as an organisation, you can share your feedback by completing a survey.

People seeking asylum who live in Scotland and meet one of the criteria below for the National Concessionary Travel Schemes can apply for free bus travel through these schemes:

  • aged under 22
  • aged 60 or over
  • have a qualifying disability
