Upcoming temporary closures for local roads

Signed diversions will be in place during the short-term closures of three local roads as part of essential works to progress the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route/Balmedie to Tipperty project (AWPR/B-T).

The closure of Hillside to Batchart Road will allow works to be undertaken on the new bridge and road alignment; the closure of Pitmedden Road will enable the contractor to install drainage; and the closure of the Wester Ord to Blacktop Road will allow the safe removal of edge protection from the new bridge on this road.

Hillside to Batchart Road (C30K) will close between Badentoy and Greenloaning from 6am on Friday 11 November and will re-open on Monday 21 November at 11.59pm. There will be no through access.

Road users travelling north should follow the U59K at Badentoy and then onto the C5K to Greenloaning. The route should be reversed for road users travelling south.

Pitmedden Road (C55C) will close between the junction at Dyce Drive and the access to Dyce churchyard from 8pm on Friday 4 November until 6am on Monday 6 November. There will be no through access.

Road users travelling north should follow a signed alternative route from Dyce Drive, Inverurie Road (A96), Main Road (B973)and Caskieben Road (U58C). The route should be reversed for road users travelling south.

Wester Ord to Blacktop Road (C127C) will close overnight between its junctions with Baillieswells Road and Bishopsdams Road between Tuesday 8 November and Wednesday 9 November between 8pm and 6am each night.

Road users travelling west should follow a signed alternative route via Baillieswells Road, North Deeside Road, Malcolm Road and the Peterculter-Kirkton of Skene Road (B979). The route should be reversed for users travelling east.

A Transport Scotland spokesperson said:

“These works are critical to the project and require road closures for the safety of the road users and workers. They have been carefully planned to minimise inconvenience to road users.

“Hillside to Batchart Road will close between Badentoy and Greenloaning at 6am on Friday 11 November to enable the structure at this location to be completed. The road is expected to re-open at 11.59pm on Monday 21 November.

“Pitmedden Road will close between Dyce Drive and Dyce churchyard after the busy period on the Friday evening to install drainage and will reopen in time for the busy period on the Monday morning. Signed diversions will be in place during these closures.

“Similarly, the closure of Wester Ord to Blacktop Road will close for three nights between 8pm and 6am when traffic is expected to be much quieter.”

The dates given are as accurate as possible but are subject to change at short notice.

The AWPR/B-T project is expected to bring in an additional £6 billion to the north-east economy and create around 14,000 jobs over the next 30 years. There will also be tangible benefits for the business community and road users with better journey time reliability and reduced congestion.
