A77 Maybole Bypass
Overview
The project will:
- remove conflict between local and strategic traffic
- relieve congestion and improve air quality in the town
- improve safety and journey time reliability on the A77 trunk road
The project opened to road users in January 2022.
Impact during construction
Engaging with local communities is at the heart of all of Transport Scotland’s major construction projects and played a vital role during the construction of the A77 Maybole Bypass, with a dedicated Community Liaison Officer employed by the Contractor.

Drop-in session
Wills Bros Civil Engineering, the contractor constructing the A77 Maybole Bypass project held an information drop-in session for members of the public in November 2019. Representatives from the Site Delivery Team attended to provide an update on construction progress and answer any questions on the construction of the project.
Preferred option public exhibition
We held a public exhibition on Friday 18 January 2013 at the Carrick Centre, Culzean Road, Maybole KA19 7DW to display the preferred option for the route.

Public Local Inquiry
The Directorate for Planning and Environmental Appeals (DPEA) held a Public Local Inquiry into the A77 Maybole Bypass proposals at the Carrick Centre, Maybole in May 2015. Further details of the Public Local Inquiry can be found on the DPEA website.
