Air Discount Scheme

The aim of the Air Discount Scheme (ADS) is intended to tackle the problem of high air fares in the most peripheral parts of the Highlands and Islands region of Scotland.

Scheme membership is available to all those with their main residence in one of the following areas:

  • Western Isles
  • Orkney
  • Shetland
  • Islay
  • Jura
  • Caithness
  • North West Sutherland.

Giving a 50% discount on the core air fare on eligible routes, the scheme is designed to help improve social inclusion in the areas it covers. It covers those journeys within the eligible areas, as well as services from the eligible area to any airport within the EEA – currently Inverness, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Bergen.

The scheme runs to 31 March 2019.

The scheme is also open to students from the eligible areas studying away from home.

Further information on the ADS, including how to apply for membership, is available online at the ADS website or by speaking to an ADS team member on freephone 0800 0322890.
