The A95 Trunk Road (Craigellachie) (Temporary 20mph Speed Restriction) Order 2026

The Scottish Ministers give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1), 4(1) and 14(1)(b) and (4) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(a), which will have the effect of imposing temporary 20mph speed restriction on the length of the A95 Granish – Keith Trunk Road at Craigellachie from a point 113 metres or thereby west of the extended centre line of its junction with Victoria Road in a generally southerly then easterly direction to a point 46 metres or thereby east of the extended centre line of its junction with Spey Road, a distance of 449 metres or thereby.

The Order, which is required in the interest of road safety, will be in operation from 21 February 2026 until 21 August 2027, and will only have effect in relation to such part or parts of the length of road as is indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

The Order does not apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations; or vehicles being used in an emergency for coastguard purposes.

Alternative routes

An alternative route is not required.

UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 Compatibility Consideration and Narration of Statement of Compatibility 

The Scottish Ministers have made the following statement regarding children’s rights.  

“In accordance with section 23(2) of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 (the Act), the Scottish Ministers certify that, in their view, the A95 Trunk Road (Craigellachie) (Temporary 20mph Speed Restriction) Order 2026 is compatible with the UNCRC requirements as defined by section 1(2) of the Act.”
