The M9/A9 and A95 Trunk Roads (Granish to Grantown-On-Spey) (Temporary Prohibition on Use of Road and Specified Turns) Order 2018

The Scottish Ministers give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1), 2(2), 4(1) and 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, temporarily prohibiting traffic on the following lengths of road from making the turns specified below:

  1. That length of the M9/A9 Edinburgh – Stirling – Thurso Trunk Road from a point 125 metres or thereby north of the junction with A95 Granish – Keith Trunk Road southwards to a point 200 metres or thereby south of the junction with the A95 Granish – Keith Trunk Road, a distance of 325 metres or thereby.
  2. That length of the A95 Granish – Keith Trunk Road from its junction with the M9/A9 Edinburgh – Stirling – Thurso Trunk Road in a generally eastwards, northeastwards and then southwards direction to its junction with the B970 Nethy Bridge Road eastwards of Grantown-on-Spey, a distance of 21 kilometres or thereby.

The turns specified are:

  1. All left turns from the southbound M9/A9 Edinburgh – Stirling – Thurso Trunk Road to the A95 Granish – Keith Trunk Road.
  2. All right turns from the northbound M9/A9 Edinburgh – Stirling – Thurso Trunk Road to the A95 Granish – Keith Trunk Road.
  3. All right turns from the southbound A95 Granish – Keith Trunk Road to the B9153 Carrbridge Road.
  4. All right turns from the A939 leading from Grantown-on-Spey to the southbound A95 Granish – Keith Trunk Road.

The Order, which is required to facilitate The Thunder in The Glens Rideout 2018 on those lengths of Trunk Roads, will be in operation from 25 August  until 26 August 2018 it is anticipated that the order will be in force for a period of around 1 hour and 30 minutes and will only have effect in relation to such part or parts of the length of road as are indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

The Order does not apply to a vehicle while being used in an emergency for fire brigade, ambulance, police or coastguard purposes or vehicles being used for facilitating the holding of the relevant event or vehicles while being used in connection with the placing of the required signage.
