The M9/A9 Trunk Road (Gleneagles) (Temporary 50mph Speed Restriction) Order 2018

The Scottish Ministers give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1), 4(1) and 14(1)(b) and (4) of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, temporarily imposing a 50mph speed restriction on;

  1. That length of the M9/A9 Edinburgh – Stirling – Thurso Trunk Road being the southbound carriageway from a point 800 metres or thereby north of the point where the pedestrian crossing is located on the main carriageway south of the A824 Auchterarder Junction, to said pedestrian crossing.
  2. That length of the M9/A9 Edinburgh – Stirling – Thurso Trunk Road being the northbound carriageway from a point 800 metres or thereby south of the point where the pedestrian crossing is located on the main carriageway south of the A824 Auchterarder Junction, to said pedestrian crossing.
  3. That length of the M9/A9 Edinburgh – Stirling – Thurso Trunk Road being the entire length of the northbound on slip road at Loaninghead Grade Separated Junction, a distance of 455 metres or thereby.

The Order, which is required to enable pedestrians to cross the A9 Trunk Road safely during the European Golf Championships at Gleneagles, will be in operation from 7 August to 12 August 2018 but will only have effect in relation to such part or parts of the length of road as are indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

No speed restriction imposed by this Order applies to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations; or vehicles being used in an emergency for coastguard purposes.
