Survey on transport investment

People are being encouraged to have their say on future investment for the strategic transport system by taking part-in an online survey from Transport Scotland.

The survey has been rolled-out to the remainder of the country after being carried out in the South West, The Borders and Aberdeenshire and City earlier in the year. It is asking the public, organisations and businesses for their views on where future spending should be directed.

The exercise is an important part of the second Strategic Transport Projects Review which is considering transport investment in Scotland for the next 20 years.  STPR2 will help to deliver the vision, priorities and outcomes set out in the draft National Transport Strategy (NTS2) which is being finalised for publication.

Transport Scotland’s head of strategic transport planning Fiona Brown said:

“This is an exciting time with the new National Transport Strategy nearing completion.  It marks a step-change, with protecting our climate and improving lives at its core.

“The next stage of this work is the Strategic Transport Projects Review, which will inform our transport spending for the next twenty years.  We want to hear people’s opinions on where and how they would like to see this investment focussed.

“The survey is open until January 10 and is easy to complete.  We would urge people to get involved and let us know what their priorities are as we move forward in developing the sustainable, inclusive and accessible strategic transport system that we all want to see.”
