Ferries Accessible Fund

Call for funding bids

The Ferries Accessible Fund aims to improve the accessibility of ferries and ports and to enhance the ferry travelling experience of disabled people and others facing mobility or access challenges. This includes passengers that have hidden disabilities.

The fund supports the Accessible Travel Framework for Scotland, whose purpose is to:

  • Support disabled people’s rights by removing barriers and improving access to travel and;
  • Ensure disabled people are fully involved in work to improve all aspects of travel.

General information on the fund

There is £160,000 funding available.

Eligible organisations

Any ferry or harbour operator providing an internal ferry service. This includes local authority ports and ferry services and private sector ports and services. 

In addition, local authorities and regional transport partnerships or other community group may wish to lead an application in respect of improvements at eligible ports and services in their area.

All applications will be subject to assessment by the Fund Management Panel which will make final recommendations on successful projects to be funded.
