1 Best Practicable Means are defined in Section 72 of the Control of Pollution Act 1974 and Section 79 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 as those measures which are ‘reasonably practicable having regard among other things to local conditions and circumstances, to the current state of technical knowledge and to financial implications’.

2 As explained in paragraph 3.3.2, DMRB advises that on the basis of research carried out, no evidence has been found to support the theory that traffic induced ground borne vibration is a source of damage to buildings.
