North East Region Option Sifting Update Report - Feb 2021 - STPR2

We're currently undertaking the second Strategic Transport Projects Review (STPR2) to inform the Scottish Government’s transport investment programme in Scotland over the next 20 years (2022 – 2042).

STPR2 takes a national overview of the transport network with a focus on regions and will help deliver the vision, priorities and outcomes that are set out in the new National Transport Strategy (NTS2).

The purpose of the North East Region Option Sifting Update Report is to provide an update on the status of the Aberdeen City Region Deal Strategic Transport Appraisal Pre-Appraisal Study, as it relates to STPR2.

Together the North East Region Option Sifting Update Report combined with the Aberdeen City Region Deal Strategic Transport Appraisal Pre-Appraisal Study effectively constitute the STPR2 North East region’s Initial Appraisal: Case for Change study.

Aberdeen City Region Deal Strategic Transport Appraisal

Prior to the start of the second Strategic Transport Projects Review (STPR2), the Aberdeen City Region Deal Strategic Transport Appraisal Pre-Appraisal Study was on-going. 

The purpose of this study, funded through the Aberdeen City Region Deal and published by Nestrans, was to consider the evidence base for transport related problems and opportunities in the North East, development of key objectives, and a long list of potential transport options. 

This is being used to inform the Nestrans Regional Transport Strategy and also work on Transport Scotland’s second Strategic Transport Projects Review.

Together the North East Region Option Sifting Update Report combined with the Aberdeen City Region Deal Strategic Transport Appraisal Pre-Appraisal Study effectively constitute the STPR2 North East region’s Initial Appraisal: Case for Change study.
