The A6091/A7 Trunk Road (Langholm) (20mph, 30mph and 40mph Speed Limits) Draft Order 202[]

The Scottish Ministers hereby give notice that they propose to make the above Order under sections 82(2)(a) and (b), 83(1), 84(1)(a) and 124(1)(d) of, and paragraph 27 of schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984 which will have the effect of imposing a 20mph, 30mph and 40mph speed limits on the following lengths of road:

20mph Speed Limit

1. That length of the A6091/A7 Melrose – Galashiels – Carlisle Trunk Road at Langholm from a point 179 metres or thereby south-east of the centreline of its junction with Hallpath in a generally northerly direction to a point 314 metres or thereby north of the centreline of its junction with B709 Thomas Telford Road, a total distance of 1.083 kilometres or thereby.

30mph Speed Limit

2. That length of the A6091/A7 Melrose – Galashiels – Carlisle Trunk Road at Langholm from a point 179 metres or thereby south-eastwards of the centreline of its junction with Hallpath in a generally southerly direction to a point 129 metres or thereby south of the centreline of its junction with Glenesk Road, a total distance of 239 metres or thereby.
3. That length of the A6091/A7 Melrose – Galashiels – Carlisle Trunk Road at Langholm from a point 683 metres or thereby north of the centreline of its junction with B709 Thomas Telford Road in a generally southerly direction to a point 314 metres or thereby north of the centreline of its junction with B709 Thomas Telford Road, a total distance of 369 metres or thereby.

40mph Speed Limit

4. That length of the A6091/A7 Melrose – Galashiels – Carlisle Trunk Road at Langholm from a point 129 metres or thereby south of the centreline of its junction with Glenesk Road in a southerly direction to a point 135 metres or thereby south of the centreline of Cemetery Road, a total distance of 794 metres or thereby.
5. That length of the A6091/A7 Melrose – Galashiels – Carlisle Trunk Road at Langholm from a point 683 metres or thereby north of the centreline of its junction with B709 Thomas Telford Road in a generally northerly direction to a point 1.540 kilometres or thereby north of the centreline of its junction with B709 Thomas Telford Road, a total distance of 857 metres or thereby.

Full details of the proposal are contained in the Order which, together with plans showing the length of road involved, a statement of the Scottish Ministers’ reasons for proposing to make the Order and the order that is to be revoked in part may be examined free of charge during normal business hours from 23rd April 2026 until 24th May 2026 at offices of Transport Scotland, Fifth Floor, 177 Bothwell Street, Glasgow G2 7ER, Londis Shop, Murray House, 1a High Street, Langholm DG13 0JH and Langholm Library, Market Place, High Street, Langholm DG13 0JQ.
