This project involves the construction of 2.1 kilometres of 6 metre-wide single carriageway, with 1 metre hard strips and a minimum soft verge width of 1.65 metres. At the northern end of the scheme, a 280 metre-long 10 metre-wide climbing lane has been provided.

The Kessock Bridge opened to traffic in 1982. It is a cable stayed bridge and carries the A9 dual carriageway trunk road across the Beauly Firth at Inverness.

This project is now complete. It involved the construction of a new 1.06km northbound overtaking lane, with associated drainage, surfacing and safety fencing improvements.

Contractors replaced the old twin pipe culvert structure with a new single span bridge, designed to modern standards. The works included localised road widening.
