A9 Pass of Birnam to Tay Crossing

The 8.4km section of the A9 from Pass of Birnam to Tay Crossing is being upgraded to dual carriageway as part of a wider programme to improve the A9 between Perth and Inverness. The preferred route has been identified and is being developed and assessed by our technical advisors, Jacobs. The estimated total scheme cost for preparation, procurement and construction of the project is £478m at April 2023 prices, which includes £40m spent up to 18/10/23. This estimate will be updated following development and assessment of the preferred option.
