A9 Pass of Birnam to Tay Crossing

The A9 between Perth and Inverness is undergoing a major upgrade from single to dual carriageway. The 8.4km Pass of Birnam to Tay Crossing section will give a 10.2km continuous dual carriageway, incorporating the existing dual carriageway at Pass of Birnam. The estimated total scheme cost for preparation, procurement and construction of the project is £478m at April 2023 prices, which includes £40m spent up to 18/10/23. This estimate will be updated following development and assessment of the preferred option.
